GM Specific Requirements Update for IATF 16949 - Effective 31 January 2025

General Motors (GM) recently updated its Customer Specific Requirements (Customer Specific Requirements) for the standard IATF 16949with an entry into force set at 31 January 2025.

Below is a summary of the main changes made:

1. Section 8.5.1.1: Control Plan

The section has been updated to align Control Plan requirements with the current AIAG Control Plan manualensuring greater consistency with the AIAG guidelines.

2. Section 8.6.2: Dimensional Inspection

It is now required that a dimensional inspection of all requirements be carried out on at least 5 pieces. This update strengthens the dimensional control to ensure compliance with technical requirements.

3. Section 8.6.3: GM Appearance Approval Report

A new section has been added introducing the obligation to draw up a GM Appearance Approval Report. This document ensures that the products meet the aesthetic standards required by GM.

4. Section 9.2.2: QMS Gap Assessment

The company will now have to load the GM QMS System Gap Assessment at SCMS Systemimproving transparency and traceability.

5. Section 9.2.2.3: Annual CQI Assessments

Organisations are asked to upload their annual evaluations CQI at SCMS System for:

- CQI 35 (Wire Harness)

- CQI 34 (Software Assurance Approval).
